Once a blighted furniture store in the heart of the Bywater is now a thriving three family residence, and a great example of what’s possible when historic preservation and modern living come together.
For this project we restored the arts and crafts-era layout with a full interior renovation, including historic windows and doors, enclosed sunroom, and original built-ins. We also modernized the plumbing, lighting, and appliances for the three individual households.
The property was eligible for historic tax credits, a huge factor in making projects like this financially possible. This project is a good reminder that historic renovations in New Orleans don’t mean choosing between character and livability.
