Nestled in the heart of the Milan Uptown neighborhood, this stunning 4-bay shotgun home stood as a testament to New Orleans’ architectural history, and featured many beloved elements of classic New Orleans design: original hardwood floors throughout, pocket doors and transoms, soaring 12-foot ceilings, original wood windows, and many exposed brick fireplaces. Its dated interior and awkward layout presented an opportunity to modernize the space while preserving its original charm. Our team took on the challenge of reimagining this historic interior renovation to create a more functional and comfortable living environment that honors the character of New Orleans architecture by reconfiguring the existing layout, moving the kitchen, and adding a private primary suite. The newly renovated 4-bay shotgun home is a beautiful example of how thoughtful design can honor the past while embracing the present. By preserving the home’s historic features and addressing functional shortcomings, we’ve created a space that embodies the spirit of New Orleans architecture.
