2025 New Build of the Year in New Orleans Homes Magazine
Adamick Architecture designed this new construction home for a growing family on a vacant lot in the Irish Channel. While it’s a ground-up build, the design draws heavily from traditional New Orleans vernacular so it feels right at home in the historic neighborhood. The house features a split three-bay/two-bay massing with a double gallery at the front — a detail common to the area — paired with large floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in natural light. The site plan accommodates modern needs with a carport, swimming pool, and pool house at the rear.
Inside, the layout blends traditional formality with family-friendly functionality. The first floor includes a double parlor off the entry hall, complete with oversized pocket doors, and a generous kitchen connected to the family room and new fireplace. A mudroom at the carport entry keeps the flow practical for daily life, while a private guest suite is tucked into the recessed front portion of the home. Upstairs, the design continues to balance comfort and function. Equal-sized bedrooms with ensuite baths line the rear for the children, along with a dedicated playroom and laundry room. At the front, the primary suite includes an adjacent office, both opening onto the front porch to take in views of the neighborhood.
This project was a true collaboration: our team led the architecture, Cattaneo Studios created the interior design, and JLV Construction brought it all to life. The result is a family home that blends seamlessly into the Irish Channel while offering all the conveniences of new construction.
