Adamick Architecture designed a a unique two story addition to a historic arts and crafts style home near Bayou St. John. The home was in serious disrepair and had sat empty for many years, but in this case it afforded us the opportunity to preserve a number of historic details including all the windows, doors, and casings. The power company had strung a line above the house to service a number of neighboring properties without an easement, so we used this issue as an opportunity to create a unique massing for our addition that would maximize the rear yard and allow for a minimal intervention to the historic structure. We worked with Hilary Gaudin Robin, the client’s sister and interior designer at Julie Ponze Designs and with Dixie Construction to complete the project. The home was featured on the Preservation Resource Center’s home tour in 2023.
